Greeting cards have all been sent the Christmas rush is throu- wait, WHAT?! The week before Christmas can be crazy, malls are overly crowded and people are not so very kind; which zaps the joy of the festivity of the season. It can be sad, especially when the busyness of the season takes over the real meaning of the celebration.
Christmas is about love unconditional given to us by God and for us to share that love with others. As I thought about what to share with you all I thought of what we can gift ourselves in order for us to gift others with the joy in our hearts. Here’s what I’ve come up with:
- Give yourself the gift of SERVICE and Pampering. Like a hair cut and/or color, mani/pedi, or massage and enjoy the feeling of being served and pampered. Remember that feeling when you serve your family and friends during the festivities and the joy of your hugs when you give it to the people you love.
- Create TIME for yourself. During this hectic time set aside some time for you to relax. Read a book, watch old movies, take a nap, go for a run, do yoga or whatever your hearts desire. When you give time for yourself, it won’t be hard to set aside time for others.
- Learn to COMPLIMENT yourself. Remind yourself how amazing you are. Don’t be stingy in complimenting yourself. It is not narcissistic when you pat yourself in the back once in a while; when you appreciate yourself with kind words it will actually be easier for you to receive compliments without judgement when you know how to give compliments to yourself.
- Give yourself a GIFT. Enjoy the feeling of choosing a gift for you, and receive it joyfully.
Once you start practicing these 4 things it will be much easier for you to give it to others. As they say “you can’t give what you don’t have”
From my family to yours, Happy Christmas and enjoy unwrapping all your presents!
